This year's airshow regained it's usual date being the first weekend of the school holidays on July 01 and 02, 2006.

Summer weather was prevalent so the airshow was a succes. Reports on more than 90.000 visitors are being given....

The show was a subtle mix of ancient and modern aircraft, with a tendency of black, yellow and red colours. Let us not forget that 2006 is also the 60th anniversary of the Belgian Air Force (now Belgian Air Component). This anniversary will be far more emphasized during the Belgian Defence Days on September 02 and 03, 2006 at Beauvechain Airbase.

The incontestable rarity and novelty at the Koksijde 2006 airshow was the presence of the new Saab J-29C Gripen of the Czech Air Force.  !

Once again this was a very good year, which S.B.A.P. likes to share with you on our photopages. These photopages are a mix of pictures taken on Friday June 30, 2006 during the arrivals and rehearsals as well as on Sunday July 02, 2006 during the second day of the airshow. Some visitors (a.o. French Air Force Alpha Jets, Mirage 2000 and the Cartouche d'Orée team...) had by then left Koksijde to be present at the airshow at Cambrai in France. During the Sunday-show some other aircraft took off to rejoin Cambrai (a.o. the T-33 and F-86 Sabre).

This years climax was the Patrouille Suisse which gratified the crowd with a superb presentation. It was a pity that the 'grande finale' did not see the usual flares....

Several rumours came through saying Koksijde 2006 was the last show being organized at the coastal airbase. In fact, part of the military domain is being considered to be put up for sale, but certain reports tell this 'file' has been delayed.... So let's hope and see us all at Koksijde 2007... perhaps...

We would like to thank the crew of the General Staff and Public Relation Service of the Belgian Air Component for their care and obligingness and particularly Cdt. Thierry Wiame for his unconditional support to the media services.

Safe landings !
