On May 16, 2008 an official inauguration was held at the roundabout in front of the main gate of the former airbase at Sint-Truiden/Brustem celebrating the installation of Belgian Fouga Magister MT03 on its final destination. After 47 years of service in the Belgian Air Force, now Air Component, the Fouga will remain the best known airplane in Belgium. During its glory days, hundreds of pilots graduated on this aircraft at the Brustem airbase.

The inauguration of the commemorative plaque was done by the mayor of Sint-Truiden, Ludwig Vandenhove, together with a.o. Col. Huybrechts, Commander of the Royal School for NCO's at Saffraanberg, Col. Avi. Patrice Laurent, BaseCo of the 1 Wing at Beauvechain airbase, 'Red' Dewalheyns - first leader of the Belgian aerobatic team Red Devils on Fouga Magister, Leo Lambermont - last leader of this team and Lt. Col. Avi. Paul Rorive, last solo display pilot on this magnificent aircraft.

The inauguration was quite attended by former pilots, personal and others, all of which had an affinity with the Fouga.
