Boeing 747 from Kalitta Air crashes at
Brussels National Airport


Sunday May 25, 2008 at 14.30 local time a Boeing 747 from Kalitta Air experienced a non specified problem (blown tire ?) at take-off. The pilots aborted this take-off but,could not bring it to a halt before the end of the runway, running through the perimeter fence at the end, just coming to a halt before a road.

The pilots escaped injury but were taken to the Saint Luc hospital for check-up. Luckily there was no fire and no one else was hurt in this accident. As the aircraft was taking off, it was full fuel and this is why the firefighters covered the aircraft in foam as to prevent any chance of explosion or fire.
