On December 1st, 2009, Colonel Aviator Robert "Bob" Corbeel took off for his ultimate flight.

"Bob" Corbeel was born in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean on August 5th, 1925 . He joined the Belgian Air Force in 1948 and was integrated in the 122 promotion. "Bob" got his precious wings on January 27th, 1950. He spent the major part of his career with the 7th Wing based at Chièvres airbase, where he flew Gloster Meteor and Hawker Hunter fighter aircraft. At Chièvres he also became CO of the 7th Squadron and OSN of the 7th Wing.
Not long ago he was the special guest during the inauguration of the Hunter monument at Chièvres and was really proud that this one was painted in the colours of the Hunter he flew in the past.

Bob was one of the great characters of the Belgian Air Force pilot community and had always a smile for the aviation enthusiast.
