On Thursday, June 24th, 2010, the Minister of Defence Pieter De
Crem proceeded to the inauguration of the renovated Military Airport of the 15
Wing at Melsbroek Air Base (Military side of Brussels National Airport).
The renovation and modernisation is due to the Belgian presidency of the
European Union (EU).
This facelift started end of March 2010 and includes a new parking lot, an
enlarged waiting area, an alternative for the control desks, a refurbished
cafeteria and a VIP lounge.
The extensive renovation work makes the military airport more user friendly, not
only for the staff of Defence which start their mission at Melsbroek, but also
for the many guests visiting our country.
The new infrastructure is called "BruMil" (Brussels Military Airport), so
farewell to the AML (Aéroport Militaire Luchthaven).
