The strong point of this month was unquestionably the arrival of an Illyushin Il-96-00 of Rossya in margin of the conflict in Ukraine. Indeed, the mission of this aircraft, considered as military, was to come to pick up Russian diplomats based either in Belgium or in the Netherlands. Diplomats or "spies" according to certain media accompanied by their families were "evacuated" by means of two flights Moscow-Brussels-Moscow, one on April 10, the second on April 12.
For those who keep an eye on the radar sites, these flights could be followed easily and showed that the navigation of the plane was quite atypical, leaving Moscow, heading due north to approach the Barents Sea, obliging it to bypass the Nordic countries (Finland, Sweden, Norway) by flying only over the international waters of the Arctic Ocean off the North Cape, among other things, then descending towards the Norwegian Sea in order to be able to pass between Norway, Denmark and the United Kingdom.
These special flights were only allowed to fly over the Netherlands and Belgium, and the return flights were the inverse way around, taking more than 8 hours to fly from Brussels to Moscow. In short, Brussels Airport was once again at the heart of history and it is likely that we will not see the colours of the Russian Federation in our countries again any time soon (unless one of the sick people who run the world gets his feet stuck in the carpet and pushes the wrong button...) We are not there yet... In 1933 our grandparents were not there either. We tend to forget history and it starts over again in a vicious cycle.

This month of April saw some interesting aircraft, but rather on the commercial aviation side, no real surprise on the military aviation side alas.
Let's start with the arrival of two Icelandair aircraft wearing the new company colours. Nothing very shimmering unfortunately, white, blue and a line on the leading edge of the vertical fin, which, according to the two planes that came to Brussels, will not be of the same tone on each plane (green on the TF-ICP and light blue on the TF-ICE).
Also noteworthy, was the first flight of OO-SFX, the Brussels Airlines Airbus A330, also wearing the new paint scheme.
Let's also note the arrival of the Airbus A330 of Sichuan Airlines wearing the special "Changhong" livery (historical brand of the television manufacturer in China since 1958).
Then it was the Airbus A330 OH-LTO of Finnair with part of its fuselage decorated with giant flowers ("Marimekko Unikko" livery).
Finally, the last surprise of the month, the brand new special livery worn by an A320 of the Spanish airline Vueling, chosen to be the official carrier of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, in short, something to end this month in music!
