This
page is dedicated to the arrivals and rehearsals for the air show
scheduled in Tainan, Taiwan, on Saturday, October 19th, 2019.
As we were not aware of that event when we booked our flight from
Taipei to Naha, Okinawa, we were unfortunately not able to attend this
airshow as our flight was scheduled for Saturday morning.
While we were taking pictures from outside the fence in Tainan on
Wednesday, October 16th, we were told by local aviation photographers
that visitors would arrive in Tainan in preparation for the upcoming
air show. The variety of aircraft types of these visitors was a
welcome addition to an already beautiful Taiwanese trip!
Those local aviation enthusiasts also told us that the next day,
Thursday, October 17th, would be a non-flying day with the ROCAF at
the exception of rehearsals in preparation of the airshow. This
information was confirmed by military police officers who checked us.
We were checked three times in five days while we were taking
pictures. All those checks went very well.
The police officers were always extremely polite and friendly. They
checked our passport, taking a picture of it, asking us why we were
visiting Taiwan, where we were going, etc. They all told us that
taking pictures of aircraft in the air was allowed as long as we
didn't take pictures of installations inside the air bases.
The rehearsals were limited to the "Thunder Tigers"
aerobatic team display, the Mirage 2000-5, the F-16A and the F-CK-1
solo displays. The " highlight " of the day was obviously
the unexpected, and most probably accidental, sound barrier breaking
by the F-16 pilot!
Just enjoy with us some more exotic aircraft… |
