In 2014, we presented you the BAPA. An association located at Gembloux, restoring flying machines, with a B-25J Mitchell being their masterpiece.

On Saturday 16 of September, this association opened her doors as part of the annual open door, allowing the public to enter this aviation temple and discover the effort and work done by the members to achieve their goal : to present an aircraft, shinier than at its roll-out.
Besides the open-door aspect, the organization headed also for a festive day, which was largely accomplished... Visitors had the leisure to have a look at scale models (flying or not), military vehicles of the past, to snoop in old books and to purchase those they did not have in their library yet or even to buy aircraft parts.
There was also a privileged location, where numerous strips' draftsmen were gathered to sign their 'works' for a public assuredly fan of the 10th art, born in Belgium. Visitors could come across François Walthéry (Natacha - Rubine - l'Aviatrice), Bruno Di Sano (Rubine - l'Aviatrice), Yannick Thiel (Aviation and Cars), Malik (Cupidon - Archie Cash) and many others who never skimped on signing their various albums.
Let us also emphasize on the weather gods, who had a kind-hearted eye for the work of the volunteers, giving them a bright and sunny day all along, allowing the fly-by's of various historical aircraft and a much appreciated salute from our "Red devils".

A squadron without a bar is unconceivable and the organizers had foreseen the necessary 'jet-fuel' together with a little catering made up from regional homemade pies or on site made pizza's by pizzaïolo Yves (it was very nice to see one of my former Sabena bosses having a whale of a time).
So here you have a pictorial summary of this day, of course, without barnstorming jets taken from incredible angles or gleaming warbirds which wrote some glorious historical pages, but giving you a general overview with the urge not to miss the next edition, if only to show your support to these passionate with the leitmotiv to relive some aviation glories...
Hats off, chaps! It really was a great day...
