On December 17th to mark the end of the 2015 season, the Air Force headquarters, through their public relation services ComOPsAir Ipr, invited the specialized press members for a last shoot at the airbase of Kleine Brogel... To have the camera's crackling one more time before putting them aside for the winter, was their way to thank the specialized press for all the publications throughout 2015, putting forward the aeronautical flagship of the Belgian army. To satisfy these entire Canon's, Nikon's and others, the three decorated F-16 were showed off together in a beautiful wintery sun. But this was also the occasion to present highly interesting people be it in relationship to the squadrons or just to the Air Force. ADC Jo Vandenbroek presented his two godsons, Xavier and Thibault, also known as the "Flying Twins". These to young lads, twins indeed, cherish since their childhood the same dream and passion: to become a pilot. Members of the Ursel aeroclub, their first goal is to obtain their civil pilot license at the age of 16 and are well on their way to succeed.

Thereafter they would like to build up a career as a military pilot and both already made it through the admission exams of the Belgian Air Cadets. Highly passionate, but with their feet's firmly on the ground, those two lads are bubbling over of enthusiasm and sympathy and during the "mini-interview" they admitted that ultimately flying under the colours of the 31 "Tiger" Squadron would be the culmination of their efforts. The "Flying Twins" were taken under the protective wings of ComOpsAir IPR to encourage and motivate them to achieve their goal. They both have the "dash" and in the future we certainly will hear more of them. If you would like to know more about these two little lads, please do have a look at: www.theflyingtwins.be

Another encounter was focused on the godfathers of the squadrons based at Kleine Brogel. Being the godfather of a squadron is a quite particular "job". These are civilian members who dedicated their heart and soul to the squadron and its members, whoever they are. They interact voluntarily between the military and civilian world, accompanying the squadrons abroad, organizing festivities or visits or trying to resolve organizational and/or private problems. The godfather is the confidant, the good friend always there in good and in bad times. You will discover them throughout the pictures, each one representing his favourite squadron.

In organizing this visit, the team of ComOpsAir IPR, together with the Kleine Brogel airbase authorities, were keen to thank the specialized press. All to their credit and the SBAP-team would also like to thank the IPR-team based at Brussels-Evere for the report opportunities and facilities granted during our peculiar demands. To say that they cannot go without the press, but we would could not go either without the "CO", "Kurt", "JO", "Smurf", "Wim" and all the others. Let these pages be the testimony of our gratitude...

And now on to the pictures, the F-16, the encounter with the "Flying Twins" and the godfathers of 31 Squadron, 349 Squadron and the OCU (Operational Conversion Unit).
