On May 21, 2014, Colonel of aviation SBH Ir Tim Van Langenhove handed over his command to Lieutenant-Colonel of aviation Peter Lepez, during a military parade.

The ceremony was attended by Mr Pieter De Crem, Minister of Defence, Lt Gen Avi Claude Van de Voorde, Belgian Air Component Commander, prominents from the municipality of Gavere and Semmerzake and other authorities, colleagues, family and friends. A fly-by of 4 F-16 honoured the departing commander. Lt Col Lepez becomes the 17th commander of the ATCC.

During the ceremony Col Van Langenhove also handed over a cheque to the association 'Borgwal' which takes care of mentally disabled adults.

The ATCC is located at Gavere-Semmerzake and consists of an Air Traffic Control squadron, a Maintenance squadron, a Defence and Support squadron and the Air Traffic Control school. Throughout the years (the first military on the site arrived in 1951 with a mobile radar) the site evolved to the actual center controlling, toghether with Eurcontrol and Belgocontrol, one of the busiest airspaces in Western Europe.

Colonel of aviation SBH Ir Tim Van Langenhove started his military career as a cadet in August 1978 at the Royal cadet School of Laken (Brussels) followed by the engineering course aircraft mechanics at the Royal Milityary School, 136th promotion 'Polytechnics', where he graduated on December 22, 1986. Following various assignments and staff courses he was appointed commander of the ATCC on October 06, 2011.
Col Tim Van Langenhove will be assigned within the Air Force headquarters in Evere (Brussels).

Lieutenant-Colonel of aviation Peter Lepez started his military career in 1978 integrating the 118th Promotion 'All Weapons' at the Royal Military School where he graduated in 1982. He continued his flight training at Goetsenhoven and at Sint Truiden and received his 'wings' on July 22, 1984. Due to a premature ending of his Initial Operational Training he became a combat air controller and fighter allocator at the Control and Reporting Center (CRC) at Glons. Following various courses and assignments he was appointed head of the 'Regional Coordination' section within the frame of Military Partnerships at the NATO headquarters Joint Force Command at Brunssum in August 2011.
