On the airshow scene, Sanicole has undoubtedly become a must and aviation enthusiasts looking for superb demos or exotic airplanes are present every year. This 37th edition kept its promises, the organizers succeeding once again to gather a broad panel of aviation beauties. To tease the photographers for Sunday, festivities started on Friday with the Dusk Airshow. The opportunity to see some participating acts during an evening demonstration until sunset. Most of them with some nice light effects or pyrotechnics making it a real 'fairy'-show.  Sadly, this year the long awaited sun was hidden by a thick layer of clouds, but this could not prevent a superb performance. And for the worse, the weather deteriorated more during the flight of our own "Grat" restricting its demonstration but nevertheless, "Grat" presented the crowd very nice flyby's, flares included.

Fireworks concluded this evening at the Sanicole Aeroclub. As no show was foreseen on Saturday, the airbase of Kleine Brogel offered an open door gathering giving the public the possibility to admire the show airplanes, based over there, awaiting the big day for the 37th International Sanicole Airshow.

At last, the big day has arrived and the organizers, fingers crossed, were greeted with a nice sunrise at the airfield illuminating the morning haze providing superb images.

The airfield is awakening and booths are put in place offering the opportunity to purchase a souvenir or, for the youngsters, to retrieve information regarding a career into the marvellous world of civil or military aviation.

In the morning, people wander around on the field admiring the wonderful machine bathing in the sun and which they soon will see in flight. Sun who sadly will disappear now and then during the afternoon, leaving cloudy skies making ground to air photography a little bit more difficult with some "milky" background shots.

Nevertheless, the show had as usual a high standard to the joy of everyone attending. We will not enumerate all the participants, which could be long and annoying, so the pictures will speak for them self. Of interest although was the presence at the VIP site of Jacques "Red" Dewaelheyns, having at times wet eyes when seeing the fights of the T-33 Shooting Star and the Hawker Hunter, remembering when he got to tame these machines.

Flight demos, aerobatics, the day was too soon over and was concluded by the presentation of the Patrouille de France and a formation fly by of a Belgian Air Force F-16AM and the A109 display helicopter, with the finale done by "Grat" and his F-16, which he had to perform with the spare aircraft, his mount, the FA84 having some technical problems.

Once again, Geoffrey Buekenberghs and his staff managed to put a great show together, proving they are up to high standard performances.

Noteworthy is that 2014 will not see a Sanicole Airshow, but the aim is greater than this, the organisation and cooperation to an international airshow at the Kleine Brogel airbase on September 13 and 14, 2014. Check your agenda’s!

The SBAP-team would ike to thank Geoffrey Buekenberghs and his staff and particularly Joeri Mombers, responsible for the press, for granting our team its accreditation and for their always congenial reception at this very dynamic aeroclub.
