As every year, the World Economic Forum (WEF) was held at Davos in January between the 23rd and 27th.

To ensure the air policing of this major event the Swiss Luftwaffe airbase of Meiringen was set in alert status. It was a unique occasion for me to go to Meiringen and do

a  photo-shoot of the Swiss air force. The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a Swiss non-profit foundation, based in Cologny, Geneva. It describes itself as an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. The Forum is best known for its annual meeting in Davos, a mountain resort in Graubünden, in the eastern Alps region of Switzerland. The meeting brings together some 2,500 top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals and journalists to discuss the most pressing issues the world is facing, including health and the environment. Meiringen is the home base of the Fliegergeschwader 13 including the Fliegerstaffel 8 equipped with Northrop F-5E “Tiger” and the Fliegerstaffel 11 using the Boeing F/A-18 “Hornet”.
This is the first time I went to Switzerland to make a report, and my goal was to take some pictures of the F-5E before it leaves the Swiss Air Force in 2015. This wonderful base offers incredible photoshoot opportunities and the mountains around the base are the ideal background to make amazing shoots, almost like postcards (see also SBAP report :

January is still a winter month and the daytime temperature was around -15 °, really harsh conditions! As the first
mission of the day was planned at 08:00 AM, I was present around 07:30 AM and effectively, like a Swiss chronograph, the first mission was launched at 08:00 AM
sharp! In the morning, taking pictures was almost impossible, there was a thick fog and at 7.30AM it is still dark, except for the top of the mountains, lit by the cloudy
sunrise, providing impressive and unforgettable images. But in the afternoon, when the base was basking in the sun, it was possible to take some wonderful pictures. In a
few words, a real good first Swiss experience and the pleasure to share some pictures of this Swiss Air Force operational event.
