Eurocopter Marignane facilities on December 21st, was the place where the first Belgian Defence NH90 helicopter was delivered. A formal ceremony was held in presence of the Belgian authorities, Eurocopter management and Mister Pieter de Crem, Belgian Minister of defence. The first NH90 helicopter (RN05) is a TTH version (Tactical Transport Helicopter). The first NH90 TTH helicopter delivered to Belgium is part of an order placed by the Ministry of Defense for a total of eight NH90s: four in the TTH variant, and four NFH (Naval and frigate helicopter). The TTHs will be used by the Belgian air component for air transport missions, peacekeeping operations, disaster relief work, and humanitarian missions. The four NFHs scheduled for later delivery will replace the good and old Seaking of the 40th Squadron in the search and rescue (SAR) role, but also will carry out maritime support tasks for other countries as from M-class frigates. The first helicopter will remain at Marignane for more trials and continue the training of the pilots. The first NH90 will appear in Belgian skies at the summer of 2013. This pictorial overview was possible thanks to the courtesy of Pascale Fleury (Eurocopter press department).
