February 21st, 2012 the Belgian Air Component organized the 5th edition of "Fly To Your Dream". This concept offered to around 250 youngsters between 16 and 24 years old a unique opportunity to inform themselves on the different career possibilities in the Belgian Defense and mostly in the Air Component. A lot of information's could be obtained from experienced military personnel as well as newly recruited staff. The event was organized in a specific area of the base, the old F-16 QRA (Quick Reaction Alert). The main concept of this year was to push the youngsters in an operational environment and take them in real scenario like an NBC intervention. A look at the Belgian aircraft in static display was possible and some demonstration like the SAR demo of the Seaking and other fly by gave to all the youngsters a unique feeling. Moreover, all participants had the possibility to make a flight on board of Agusta, Seaking or Embraer. Some of the Embraer passengers had the surprise to be intercepted by Florennes Airbase QRA. Certainly a must and the best way to catch the interest in an Air Force career. In 2012 the Belgian Defense has vacancies for some 1.500 military jobs. The repartition is: 720 soldiers, 445 warrant officers, 180 officers and also 155 EVMI (Military Volunteers)
