Emmen airbase is born in 1930. The story of this base is comparable to the evolution of Payerne regarding the different aircraft based there. Today, Emmen airbase is probably the one with the lowest activity. But this base is the home of the well known “Patrouille Suisse” and their F-5E. Some transport aircraft are based there, but the most activities in Emmen are provided by the Aeronautical companies responsible for the construction of the maintenance of the Swiss Air Force aircraft. But since couple of years Emmen is the home base of the 7th UAV squadron “Drohnenstaffel 7” and their Swiss made machine: the ADS 95 “Ranger”.

Constructed by RUAG Aerospace, this unmanned vehicle is in service since 2001 and the Swiss Air Force bought 28 frames of this recce aircraft.
