A wonderful Open Door was held at Melsbroek airbase to commemorate the 60th
anniversary
of the Belgian military transport wing.
Splendid weather conditions and much people were present to make this day a real success.
The event was also honoured by the presence of Mister Peter De Crem, Belgian Minister of Defense.

All the
aircraft used by the 15th Wing were exhibited, but on could also see F-16, Alpha Jet, Seaking
and Marchetti.
Old flying machines came also at Melsbroek to illustrate the
aircraft of the past : B-25 Mitchell, Harvard, DH-89 Dominie, and of course a
splendid DC-3 Dakota remebering the origin of the transport wing.
Many activities where foreseen for the public like flight simulators, visit of the maintenance section, engine test stand, engine shop, survival equipment section, Rav Air equipement and many others in order to show the public the various possibilities of a military job.
The Open Door was also the occasion to commemorate the 15 years of the Air Support Unit of the Belgian Federal Police.
During the day the facilities of this unit were also accessible to the public and presentations were made of their various missions flown with the helicopter fleet.
